Ford Key Fob Programming Step by Step

As mentioned earlier, Ford key fob programming is a simple process that any Maple Grove driver can perform from home. Ready to learn how to program your Ford key fob? To do so, just perform the following steps:

  1. Close all of the car doors, and open the driver-side door.
  2. Push the unlock button on the driver-side door.
  3. Turn your ignition from “off” to “run”, and do this eight times within 10 seconds. The eighth time, you’ll want to end on “run”.
  4. When you enter programming mode, the doors will lock and unlock. If this doesn’t happen, then try turning the key faster. If you still can’t get the doors to cycle their locks, then your Ford may not have keyless entry.
  5. Press any button on your Ford key fob to be programmed. Do this within 8 Seconds.
  6. The door locks on your Ford will begin to cycle again, and this will confirm that the keyless entry remote has been programmed and is ready to use.
  7. If you have a second Ford key fob, then push any button on that remote within 8 seconds. This will cycle the door locks. If you have any other key fobs, then repeat this process.
  8. Turn the ignition off. The locks on your doors will cycle again, and this will confirm that the programming of your Ford key fob is complete.

Turning Off Ford MyKey

Sometimes, you might be selling your Ford vehicle, or you might be handing over the keys to a younger, inexperienced teen driver. Whatever reason you have for turning off your Ford MyKey capability, the process is just as simple as programming your forward key fob. To turn off your Ford MyKey capabilities, simply follow these steps:

  1. Start up your Ford, and let your computer screen turn on.
  2. Use the controls mounted on your steering wheel to push the left arrow button and access the main menu.
  3.  Once you reach the main menu, push the “settings” button after hitting “OK”.
  4. On “settings”, go to the “MyKey” option, and push the “OK” button.
  5. On the “MyKey” option, locate the option that says “Clear MyKey”.
  6. After choosing clear “Clear MyKey”, press and hold the “OK” button until you get the “All MyKeys Cleared” message on your computer screen.
